Our crews at O’Brien’s Moving & Storage take great pride in providing courteous and dependable relocation services to our neighbors across Pennsylvania and New Jersey. We also understand that those stellar moving solutions produce a fair share of recyclable waste—from old cardboard boxes and shredded stretch wrap to packing tape rolls and discarded metals.
Recycling and Reducing Waste for Our Environment
Environmental priorities have changed quite a bit since our founding in 1928; back when O’Brien’s had one truck to its name, our founders didn’t need to consider renewable resources as much, but we’ve made it a true mission in the present day. As part of our commitment to this mission, the O’Brien’s team recycles tens of thousands of pounds of mixed papers, cardboard, corrugated cartons, and PVC plastics each year.
Doing Our Part to Be Tons of Help
We recycle whatever we can, whenever possible. Working with local recycling companies over the years has helped ensure we maximize our efforts to reuse materials and reduce waste.
- Since we started recycling in 2005, we have taken more than 357 tons - or over 714,000 pounds - of paper, cardboard, metal, and other materials to recycling centers.
- In 2024, we exceeded our previous record of 52.4 tons of recycled materials by almost 4 tons! O’Brien’s Moving & Storage recycled 56.2 tons of assorted materials, including almost 45 tons of mixed metals. Recycling moving boxes and paper, and assorted metal products that we bring back on commercial moves, is a great way to help the environment, versus dumping all of this back into the earth
