When should I start my pre-move planning?
Start contacting commercial movers a minimum of 90 days prior to your move date. You should have your space planning and new furniture decided prior to contacting the movers.
Can you handle a move of our scope?
Yes, O'Brien's has provided superior relocation services from 500-square-foot office suites to 500,000-square-foot warehouse and manufacturing facilities. For larger moves, select a mover that has experience in handling large moves. Ask for references and what type of specialized equipment they have to handle larger-scale moves.
Are packing and unpacking services available?
We can provide full pack and unpack services as needed.
Do you have a storage facility?
Yes, we maintain two storage facilities in eastern Pennsylvania with over 60,000 square feet of space. The facilities have ample floor space, racking, palletizing, or vault space available. In addition, we have complete inventorying and asset management, picking and packing of individual items, final-mile or last-mile delivery, and forwarding services.
How are cubicles and systems furniture handled?
Our commercial move team includes technicians who are well-versed in the disassembly and reassembly of all types of furniture according to manufacturing specifications. We also have space planning capabilities.
How are fragile machines handled?
We handle many types of sensitive equipment daily. We have specialized equipment to transport these items in a safe manner. Also, our trucks are air ride which allows for safe transport of sensitive equipment.
What type of building protection do you use?
Polynite – matting used to protect interior floors and walls
Masonite – used to protect concrete floors in hallways and sidewalks
Cardboard – wall protection in hallways and elevators
Corner protection – for common area protection of corners in high-traveled areas
We have a ton of stuff…..exactly how do we organize this?
Don’t be stressed!!! We use a very simple yet proven system of colored labels that are colored and numbered to ensure that your furniture is put where you want it when you want it.
Will you move my offices within the building?
Yes, many moves per year are actually conducted within the existing building. We can help you move from floor to floor or completely rearrange your current floor plan based on needs. Recently we moved over 500 employees within the same building, all over one weekend.
Where do I find the materials needed?
We can provide to you all the materials you should need to complete a successful move. A cost breakdown of these materials should be included in your proposal.
Do file cabinets need to be packed?
Vertical file cabinets – NO
Lateral file cabinets – YES (except 2 drawer)
Fireproof – Yes, both types (with some exception)
We have the equipment to load your files onto our carts, secure the contents and place back into order (minimizes employee labor and accidents).
What about furniture disassembly and reassembly?
Assembly of desks, returns, etc. should be offered by your moving company. Full service commercial moving companies should have furniture installers available to handle office system reconfiguration and panels.
Do you handle moves out of state?
Yes, we can relocate your business nationwide and worldwide with our affiliation with Allied Van Lines.
Do you have a full time staff or use temp labor?
All of O'Brien's move staff is full time and is covered by our workmen's compensation insurance. Our commitment is to provide you with a great relocation experience and only utilize experienced moving crews. We will provide employment verification if requested.
How long will my move take?
An experienced mover should be able to accurately tell you the number of day(s) the move should take, so you can plan with your staff.
Can you handle my move after hours?
Yes, much commercial relocation is done after hours. We maintain a large after-hours and weekend crew.
Do you provide coverage for the value of my goods?
Yes, we cover your goods up to the amount requested. Minimal coverage is provided as part of our service and is required by law (60 cents per pound per article). We can provide greater protection as required.
Do you provide insurance for the building?
Yes, we can provide greater coverage as requested.
Can you dispose of our unwanted items?
We can have disposal set up on site, taken back to our facility to dispose of, or taken to a recycling facility.
