Popular New Hope
We discussed that New Hope is an amazingly popular destination despite the borough being so small. So what are some of the top attractions? For starters, New Hope has an astounding amount of historic sites and buildings, with the oldest being the Rhoades Homestead. This farmhouse has one section built in 1734 and contains stone spring houses and a clapboard pump shelter. The New Hope Village District is a national historic district with over 200 historic–designated buildings, primarily residential and commercial. Some of these date back to the early 18th century and many were designed in Late Victorian or Federal styles. Within this district is the Northeastern Pennsylvania Railroad Station, built in 1891 and now used as a terminus for the New Hope and Ivyland Railroad. Also at the station is the New Hope Railroad, where you can hop on one of several historic trains and rides, including a 1925 steam locomotive or powerful diesel engine that leads passengers one 45-minute ride through Bucks County’s countryside. There are some other trains, including a Speakeasy Train, Lahaska Limited, Santa’s North Pole Express, A Wine & Tapas Train, and others. Truly amazing!
