The #1 way to avoid scams is to hire a properly licensed and legal mover. This is very easy to check by asking for the company’s Public Utility Number (required for all movers in Pennsylvania) and, in case of an interstate move, the company’s Interstate Commerce Commission (ICC) number. Real movers will have these licensing numbers, will own their own moving trucks, and will employ their own moving crews. They’ll often be associated with a major moving line as well. For instance, we’re certified Allied movers.
