2019 has been another wonderful year for art and culture in Allentown, PA, specifically for its downtown area. Thanks to groups like the Public Art Committee and City Center Lehigh Valley, Allentown’s ArtsWalk continues to shine even brighter thanks to the colorful murals and other artwork added this year.

New murals can be seen on the walls of the Hamilton Connector, Allentown Arts Walk, and along Hall Street. In addition to the murals along the Hamilton Connector, two sculptures were also installed as a part of this year’s project.

ArtsWalk in Downtown Allentown

ArtsWalk lights up the Downtown Allentown area, beginning on Seventh Street and running East—passing Miller Symphony Hall, past the newly renovated ArtsWalk Pocket Park, and ending at the Allentown Museum on Fifth Street.

The three new murals were commissioned by developer City Center Investment Corp., a real estate company that has focused its sights on revitalizing Allentown’s downtown area over the last few years. The new murals include a 50 x 50ft. spray painting of a red-tailed hawk by Miami-based artist Ernesto Maranje, a 60 x 30ft. piece that celebrates the strength of femininity and the future by renowned Brooklyn artist ELLE, and a botanical-themed work by street-art team NS/CB of Miami.
