In this article, find out more about this must-visit attraction and why you should take the day off to enjoy the Colebrookdale Railroad in Boyertown.
Colebrookdale Railroad: A Boyertown-Based Attraction
In a span of just five years, the Colebrookdale Railroad is now considered as one of the top-rated tourist railroad attractions in the country. In fact, this Boyertown-based theme park is the highest-rated attraction of its kind throughout Pennsylvania—thanks to the staff members and 200 volunteers who support its continued operation for visitors.
The railroad’s staff and volunteers turn each day into a magical one by acting as conductors and locomotive engineers, ticket salespeople, and parlor car stewards. They also clean the station, serve drinks, and perform many other daily duties to keep the attraction running at peak performance.
Scenic Views, Fine Dining, and More on the Colebrookdale Railroad
Depending on what time of the year it is, the Colebrookdale Railroad offers exciting rides and excursions designed for youngsters and adults to explore the natural landscapes of the Secret Valley.
Guests can take a ride on several themed expeditions based on the season. One of these is the popular Eerie Limited ride, a two-hour nighttime excursion that explores the darker history of the area—including the haunted secrets of the Secret Valley. Passengers can also choose a variety of meal-themed drives including a vegan-themed dinner ride, Bountiful Harvest farm-to-table dinners, Grillin’ on the Rails, Molly McGuire’s Irish Dinner for Dining Passengers, and many other special events.
During special holidays, the railroad has themed excursions planned to celebrate. Starting from mid-March until Easter, kids can participate in a two-hour-long trip on the Easter Bunny Train. On this drive, you’ll get to see two of the remaining highest wooden trestle bridges that are still operational.
In December, the Polar Express is a popular family event. This two-hour expedition is the perfect way to spend the Christmas holidays with loved ones. Little ones can get to know Santa while sipping a cup of hot chocolate served from real-life 19th-century hot cocoa machines. Lastly, the Colebrookdale Railroad also offers excursions for Mother’s and Father’s days, as well as a fun day for members of the military and veterans during Memorial Day.
