300 Years of History to Explore in Warminster

Records that show the area being referred to as Warminster Township can be dated back as far as 1685, but the borders of this community were officially established in 1711. The original area was settled by English and Scotch-Irish settlers after William Penn secured a land grant from King Charles, II. Modern Warminster was originally part of Southampton Township, which was founded in 1682, but it didn’t take long for the community to start building its legacy as an ideal place to live.

In the early days of Warminster’s settlement, the economy of the region was focused on agriculture. It’s status as a small farming community remained at the heart of the area’s growth for most of its history, and it wasn’t until recent decades where the township started investing in residential subdivisions. The first housing complex of the area was Lacey Park on Street Road—located on the site of the Battle of Crooked Billet where George Washington’s troops were defeated in battle during the Revolutionary War.
