The gun would fire a six-pound shell in its three-inch barrel, and the company manufactured over 1,000 guns used by the Union Army. Many of these guns today are in private collections across the country, parks, and battlefields, including the Gettysburg Battlefield. Additionally, this method of forging wrought iron also enabled the Phoenix Iron Company to begin producing the cannon for the Union Army.
